Austrian Musical Tour

Day 1 

Depart from Denver - Austria Airport TBD

 

Day 2

Meet your Tour Directors, Lorna Holland and Dante Zambrano Cassella.

Load instruments on Bus

Travel to Salzburg

Welcome Dinner

Check in Hotel

 

Day 3

Salzburg 

Breakfast buffet 10:00 am Meet with local English-speaking guide for a 3 hour city tour including the Mirabell gardens and the narrow Getreidegasse with its many shops.

Visit the Mozart Geburtshaus (Birthplace) and the Dom (Cathedral where Mozart worked).

 

Visit Hohensalzburg Fortress including a short cog rail ride. Lunch on your own

Visit Hellbrunn Castle

Dinner at hotel 

 

Day 4

Salzburg – Hallein/Bad Dürrnberg – Ried im Innkreis - 

Breakfast Buffet

Depart for Bad Dürrnberg

Visit Salt mine in Hallein.

After arrival, change into provided coveralls to enter salt mine in a traditional wooden slope.

 

Depart for Ried im Innkreis Lunch on your own

 

Arrive in Ried for afternoon of strudel making, meeting Austrian students.

Concert in Ried, Parish Church Peter and Paul

Dinner  

Transfer and overnight in Salzburg

 

Day 5

Mondsee - Vienna

Breakfast Buffet

Depart for Vienna 12:00 pm Stopping at the beautiful resort town of Mondsee, you will find the “Wedding Church” from the movie “The Sound of Music.”

 

Lunch will be on your own

Continue towards Vienna. 

 

En route you will visit the massive Benedictine “Melk Abbey.”

Day 6

Vienna 

Breakfast Buffet

Enjoy a city tour by coach with a Local Guide to include the old city center, the Royal Castle, Parliament, the Belvedere Palace (no entry), the modern Hundertwasser House, and the UNO district.

 

Guided tour (2 groups) of Schönbrunn Palace with its spectacular gardens, enormous grounds and opulent structure of over 250 rooms. Schönbrunn was the Hapsburgs attempt to recreate the Palais de Versailles of the Sun King of France.

Lunch on your own Time permitting, possible visit of Technical Museum

Hotel in Vienna

 

Day 7

Vienna

Buffet breakfast

Board coach and travel to the Central Cemetery of Vienna. Here are the monuments of the famous composers all buried next to each other in a beautiful display of sculptured tributes. See the grave of Beethoven, Brahms, both Strausses, Schubert and Schumann.

 

Visit the fascinating interactive museum, “Haus der Musik.” Inside find displays about music and the great composers, as well as scientific exhibits about sound.

 

Lunch on your own

Visit Vienna Opera with guided tour in English

 

Dinner in a typical “Heuriger Restaurant” in Grinzing, a wine producing suburb of Vienna. Enjoy live music and great food.

Overnight in Vienna

 

Day 8

Vienna / Budapest

Buffet breakfast

Depart for concert

Concert at De La Salle Bundesgymnasium (High School) Lunch on your own

Depart for Budapest

Meet local guides for a city tour including the medieval Buda Castle area, Matthias Church (without entry), Fisherman’s Bastion, and the magnificent Heroes Square. Dinner at the Hotel

Overnight in Budapest

Day 9

Budapest

Buffet breakfast

Half day excursion to Tanya Csarda, located south of Budapest on the “Puszta” or plain.

 

Horse show

Lunch with live Gypsy music and a Hungarian folklore show

Return to Budapest

Rehearsal

Final concert at St. Theresa of Avila Church in Budapest Dinner

Overnight in Budapest
