New Places This Year!!

Hanover Tavern:

A license for a tavern at Hanover Courthouse was issued in 1733. When William Parks, editor of the Virginia Gazette, purchased Hanover Tavern in 1743, it was part of a 550 acre plantation at the courthouse. Today, Hanover Tavern occupies a site consisting of 3.5 acres.

The Tavern was built in five stages and includes more than 12,000 square feet on three levels, 27 rooms, 97 windows, and 16 exterior doors. The earliest surviving section of the present Tavern was built in 1791. The disposition of the earlier tavern is unknown, but fire was a constant hazard in such buildings.....

New Tour Guide Guiding St Mary's

BEN TAYLOR:

Hey everyone, I'm Ben! Originally from Cleveland, I've lived in Ohio, Massachusetts, Colorado, the U.K., Maryland, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, and have traveled extensively both nationally and internationally. I have been to nearly 30 countries and been to 41 states.

I've been a part of 11 different, multi-week, student trips to the West Coast, Europe, and Israel and have been in and out of the tourism industry since 2012. 2022 will be my 5th season guiding on the East Coast.

I have a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Denison University in Granville, OH with a minor in Studio Art and also have a BSN from Ursuline College. I also studied geology, biology, and agriculture, and I love teaching history!

I enjoy working with student groups because I love seeing the looks on their faces when exploring new places.

My favorite place I've been to is either Scotland or Costa Rica. My best travel tip is to pack lightly, allowing for you to be more focused on site-seeing and allowing less to be lost or stolen.

Other hobbies of mine include running, skiing, hiking, and climbing. I look forward to working with you and sharing some of my historical knowledge and random trivia!

More Information to come....
