A: This tour combines performance opportunities for the Gifted Music School Orchestra with an immersive educational experience. Students will perform at iconic venues such as the Lincoln Memorial, Mount Vernon, and Colonial Williamsburg, while also exploring the history and culture of Washington, D.C. and early America.

WASHINGTON, D.C. HIGHLIGHTS
Q: What monuments and memorials will the group visit?
A: Students will see the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Washington Monument, many of them on special night tours when they are beautifully lit.
Q: What Smithsonian Museum is included?
A: The group will visit the National Air and Space Museum, featuring historic planes, space capsules, and hands-on exhibits about the story of flight and exploration.
Q: What will we see at Arlington National Cemetery?
A: Students will walk the hallowed grounds, visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony, a moving tradition of honor and respect. They will also stop at the Marine Corps Memorial (Iwo Jima) nearby.

A: Colonial Williamsburg is a living history town, where costumed interpreters bring the 18th century to life. Students will tour historic homes, meet tradespeople like blacksmiths and wigmakers, and experience daily life during the Revolutionary era.
Q: What will we see at Jamestown?
A: The Jamestown Settlement explores the first permanent English colony in America (1607). Students will tour a recreated fort, Native American Powhatan village, and full-sized replicas of the three ships that carried settlers to Virginia.

A: A private motorcoach will provide transportation throughout the tour. Luggage and instruments will travel securely with the group.

A: Yes. Daily breakfasts, group dinners, and scheduled lunches are included. Students will enjoy a mix of hotel breakfasts, group dinners at local restaurants, and meals arranged during touring.
PREPARATION & WHAT TO BRING
Q: What should students bring for performances?
A: Students should bring their instruments, performance attire, and sheet music. Each performance venue may have different acoustics, so being prepared is essential.
Q: What should they wear during the day?
A: Comfortable walking shoes and casual clothing are recommended, as much of the trip includes walking tours. A light jacket or sweater is also advised for cooler evenings.
Q: Will there be free time?
A: Most of the days are scheduled with activities and performances, but students will have some downtime at the hotel each evening.
